Considering the new trend set by various SUVs, Indian Market has seen demand for performance SUVs. BMW has also added itself into the performance SUV segment with the unveiling of its X3 M and X4 M. These two new M-Versions of BMW packs a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that churns out 480 horses and 600Nm of torque. There is an optional version for the enthusiasts which bumps up power output to a whopping 510hp called as “COMPETITION” Variant. Standard Version packs a power pack performance that takes this SUV from 0-100 KMPH mark in just 4.2 seconds and the COMPETITION variant takes 4.1 seconds. While there is not much difference to consider, but it has its perks.
BMW M SUVs has an electronic limited top speed of 250kmph, which can be extended further by opting M Driver’s package. Also, these get all-wheel drive system, 3 drive modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+, 20-inch wheels in standard guise and the Competition variant gets the optional 21-inch wheels, beefed up electronically adjustable suspension, new anti-roll bars, a much more aggressive front-end with a bigger redesigned M-spec grille, bigger air intakes, new set of sports seats up front with a lot of carbon-fibre on the centre console, dashboard and door panels, all-digital instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped M steering wheel.
We expect the launch in the Indian Market to take place in the year 2020. BMW X3 M and X4 M pretty much have no competition in terms of power except for The Porsche Macan Turbo facelift. These will come in a price range of Rs 1-1.3 crore (ex-showroom). However, this launch can push Mercedes-Benz to bring in more powerful AMG GLC 63 to India to equalize the competition.
