The all-new BMW X4 has been launched in India. It is based on the new CLAR platform from 7-series and has resulted in saving almost 50Kg in total car weight. The new X4 will be locally produced at BMW plant in Chennai. The all-new BMW X4 is available in Alpine White non-metallic paintwork and in the following metallic paintworks: Flamenco Red Brilliant Effect, Phytonic Blue and Carbon Black.
The X4 does not have a direct rival yet in Indian Market but the price range sets this vehicle as a rival to Range Rover Evoque, Audi Q5 and Mercedes Benz GLC. It comes with distinctive coupe-like roofline and is bigger as compared to previous model. The new model is 81 mm longer and 37 mm wider than the previous version, while the wheelbase at 2864 mm, is longer by 54 mm. The boot capacity is 25 Litres more at 525 litres.
On the inside, it gets goodies like BMW Key display, 6-pre defined Gesture control, wireless charging for smart phone, Park Distance Control (PDC) that helps driver in parking manoeuvers, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard with 10.3-inch unit as on offer, and a new steering wheel from X3 and 7-series with paddle shifters.

The all-new BMW X4 is available in two diesel variants – the BMW X4 xDrive20d M Sport X and the BMW X4 xDrive30d M Sport X and in one petrol variant – the BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport X, all of which are locally produced.
xDrive20d M Sport X : Priced at Rs. 60.6 lakh for India, it gets a 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 horses and a maximum torque of 400 Nm @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. This setup acheives 0 -100 kmph mark in just 8 seconds.
X4 xDrive30d M Sport X : Priced at Rs. 65.9 lakh for India, it gets a 3-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine which produces 261 horses and a torque of 620 Nm @ 2,000 – 2,500 rpm. This setup acheives 0 -100 kmph mark in just 6 seconds.
xDrive30i priced at Rs. 63.5 lakh for India, it gets a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 248 horses and a torque of 350 Nm @ 1,450 -4,800 rpm. This setup acheives 0 -100 kmph mark in just 6.3 seconds.
