BMW flagship SUV offering, the X7 is all set to come to India. It will be company’s first offering in 7-seater segment. The camouflaged car was spotted testing in Chennai. To keep pricing competitive, BMW has decided to assemble X7 locally.
It is based on the new platform called CLAR that is also used in various other offerings by the manufacturer like 7 series, 5 series and new gen X3. When launched, it will take on the likes of other luxury SUV such as Range Rover Velar, Audi Q7, Mercedes Benz GLS, Volvo XC-90, Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus.
On the front, the X7 gets a massive kidney grill, sleek designed LED headlamps and muscular bumper that gives a tall proud stance to the SUV. It measures 5151 mm in length, 2000 mm in width and 1805 mm in height with a wheel base of 3105 mm. On the inside, it will get dual 12.3-inch touch screen systems, one for centre console and other for infotainment system, 16 speaker Harman Kardon audio system, 4-zone climate control, 3-part panoramic sunroof, gesture control, massage seats and much more.
Under the hood, X7 will get its drive force from a 3.0 Litre, in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 335 horses and a 4.4 Litre, twin turbo V8 petrol that produces 456 horses. Diesel engine will include a 3.0 Litre 6-cylinder engine that produces nominal 256 horses, but a more powerful engine will be provided as an option with 8 speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive system as standard. A hybrid version with an M badge is also on the cards.
