Developed in partnership with PPG Industries, Ferrari has introduced an innovative low temperature paint process. The new ‘Low Cure’ clear coats paint finish, makes the Prancing Horse the world’s first car manufacturer to adopt this innovative technology.
This specially formulated clear coat allows the company to bake the paint at 100 degrees instead of 150 degrees. Also, this technology helps in cutting energy costs and enhances the sustainability of the process. This process also promotes better cross-coat linking which simultaneously increases chemical hydrophobicity and reduces water permeability.
This process has been industrialised for 61 different basecoat colours by combining metallic basecoats with a gloss or matte pigmented clear coat.
In 2004,Ferrari became one of the first companies in the world to introduce a water-based paint system which significantly lowered the environmental impact of its cars.
