To our surprise, Hero has completed its ‘X’ family range with the introduction of new fully-faired Xtreme 200S at a price tag of INR 98,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Now, Hero ‘X’ family line-up includes: XPulse 200, XPulse 200T, Xtreme 200R street-fighter and Xtreme 200S. Hero now competes with a lot of 150cc and 200cc segment bikes like the Suzuki Gixxer SF, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, and Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0, though it may be striking as its other competitors but will surely make an mark with its refreshing design and styling.
It sports a sleek-looking headlamp cluster that covers the breadth of the front. It rather strikes as an angular styling than sharp. Seating position is not sporty but comfortable as it gets flat handle bar and one-piece seat. It is available in 3 colour options: Sports Red and Mapple Brown and Panther Black.
It takes power from the same 199.6 cc single-cylinder engine which produces 18.1 hp of power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque, while paired with a 5-speed gearbox with no changes done to the engine. Suspension duties are taken care off by 37 mm telescopic forks at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock unit at the rear. Braking includes 276 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear with single-channel ABS. The digital instrument console features Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, service reminder, gear indicator, trip metres and more.
Hero claims this bike to be more comfortable for daily rides and efficient than its rivals in the segment. It is said to get to the owners by end of May.
Dr. Markus Braunsperger, Chief Technology Officer, Hero MotoCorp, said, “These new motorcycles are the outcome of years of concerted and determined product development efforts at the Hero Centre of Innovation & Technology (CIT). Our 200cc line-up now comprises of four powerful, performance-oriented and contemporary motorcycles. Going forward, we will continue to focus on developing distinct products for higher-capacity segments as we move up the value chain.”
