Jeep India is planning to launch ‘Trailhawk’ variant of the Compass SUV in the Indian Market. The model is said to be a diesel automatic. It’s been long awaited but it will make a confirmed appearance later this year. As the competition bar is raised with the introduction of new SUVs by various competitors, this was an obvious move. Launched in 2017, Jeep compass needed the required push.
At dealer level, Trailhawk bookings are going on for about a year with a token amount of INR 50,000. The Amount for new bookings still remain the same. Intended to launch with a BSVI ready engine, jeep postponed the launch to this year. It will come with a beefier suspension setup and 17-inch alloy wheels along with all-terrain 225/60 R17 tyres, to complement its off-road abilities.
Visually, the SUV will have different decals all around, black treatment to grille, badging gets red accents and bumpers equipped with recovery hooks. On the inside, cabin is finished in all-black with contrast red highlights for seats and leather wrapped steering wheel. Going by the character of diesel automatic off-roader, hill descent control, all-wheel drive and six rear parking sensors becomes a must have feature.
Mechanically, it will be powered by same 2.0-litre MultiJet II tuned to produce 171 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to 9-speed automatic transmission system which has the copyrights to this variant only.
