Maruti Suzuki has announced that they recorded a marginal growth of 1% in December 2018 selling 1,19,804 units as against 1,18,560 units in the same month last year.
As per the data released by the company, the entry-level segment (Alto and WagonR) has witnessed a decline in sales. The combined sales in this segment stood at 27,661 units in December 2018 compared to 32,146 units in the same month last year, a decline of 14%. The compact car segment (Celerio, Swift, Ignis, Dzire and Baleno) also saw a sales decline of 3.8% selling 51,334 units in December 2018 against 53,336 units in the same month last year.
On the other hand, the marginal growth was driven by the sales of UV and Vans segment and the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sold 4734 units in December 2018 against 2382 units in the same period last year. The Utility Vehicle segment (Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross) recorded a growth of 4.9% selling 20,225 units in December 2018 as against 19,276 units in December 2017. The Vans segment sold 15,850 units in December 2018 against 11,420 in the same period last year.
