Unveiled at EICMA 2017, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650 are simply the most anticipated launches scheduled to happen this year. Earlier the launch was expected in the first half of 2018, but that did not happen. Now, the 650 Twins have been spied testing in Chennai during peak traffic. Some reports suggest that the launch is being delayed to get the Quality right on the motorcycles. Well, that is a very good reason indeed but still Royal Enfield should launch the 650 Twins before festive season to gain sales.
Both the 650 Twins had Tamil Nadu number plates and were being escorted by a standard Bullet.
Both 650 Twins will be powered by the same 648 cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine that puts out 47 hp of power and 52 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox.
The Continental GT 650 will replace the current Continental 535 from the company line-up once launched.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650 will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Chennai. We expect the bikes to be priced below ₹ 4 lakh.
