Yamaha has opened the bookings for the upcoming naked street fighter MT15 and one can go and book the bike at selected dealers only for Rs. 5,000. Of course, this amount is refundable, and deliveries are expected to begin by March 2019. As per recent media reports, the launch is set to take place in the next month.
MT15 is basically a stripped-down version of R15 V3 so it will carry the same 155cc engine with VVA technology. This motor churns a healthy 18.7bhp and 15Nm of torque. It will be priced above FZ and FZS models.
On the front, it has uniquely designed headlamp that resembles its big brother MT05, sculpted fuel tank, a high-set tail section and wide single handle bar which states a slightly aggressive riding position. It will come with dual channel ABS as standard, but it will not feature USD upside down forks but will come with conventional telescopic forks. At rear, single monoshock will take lead. Also, the MT-15 will feature the same 282 mm disc up front and a 220 mm unit at the rear.
The MT15 will be Yamaha’s 5th entrant into the 150cc motorcycle segment. The other 150cc bikes that Yamaha sells or used to sell in India are the FZ-S, the Fazer 150, the R15 and the SZ range.
It will carry a price tag of around Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will compete with Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and KTM Duke 125. It’ll be one of the priciest 150cc motorcycles sold in India.
