As per a report published by Zigwheels, Yamaha will launch the much-awaited MT-15 naked motorcycle in India on March 15, 2019. The report says that the company will host the launch event at the Buddh International Circuit.
The MT-15 gets the same 155cc VVA-equipped liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor as the R15. The motor produces 19.3 hp of power at 10,000rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm.
The made-for-India model misses out on 2 features that are available on the international-spec MT-15. The first feature is related to the front suspension, the company has opted for a conventional telescopic fork rather than a USD unit. Secondly, the Indian version gets a box-section swingarm as opposed to an aluminium unit. These are clearly cost-cutting measures by the company which will enable them to launch the MT-15 at a competitive price.
The pricing for the MT-15 could be in the Range of Rs 1.2 lakh – Rs 1.3 lakh, ex-showroom to take on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS (Rs 1.11 lakh) and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 ABS (Rs 1.12 lakh).
