Yamaha is all set to launch MT15, a naked street fighter styled 150cc motorcycle in India. Launch date is set at March 15, 2019. As per media reports, dealers have started accepting bookings for the bike such as in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai with booking amount set at Rs 10,000. In Bengaluru, one can secure your booking for Rs 2,000 only. However, in Kerala, dealers said that they are not accepting bookings for the MT-15 yet.
The MT-15 will get same motor from on the R15 V 3.0 – the 155cc, single-barrel, SOHC unit that produces 19.3hp and 15Nm of torque with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, mated to 6-speed gearbox and a slip and assist clutch.
Nonetheless, the organization could tune it distinctively for the MT. Seeing that India-spec MT15 has ditched the USD forks and aluminium swing arm, we can be sure that Yamaha is trying to bring the price lower than that of R15v3 as R15v3 features aluminium swingarm. So, we can expect it carrying a price tag between 1.12 Lakhs to 1.17 Lakhs.
